India Pakistan news Live: The district administration has ordered a complete blackout in Barmer, Rajasthan after drone activity was again seen on Sunday night.
Earlier, a blackout was imposed in Jaisalmer, Barmer and other border areas of Rajasthan as a precautionary measure in view of the ceasefire violation by Pakistan on Saturday.
In Barmer, the measure was implemented at 8 pm, while in Jaisalmer it began at 7.30 pm, according to details compiled by news agency PTI.
Panic spread in the border areas on Saturday night when the terms of the agreement between India and Pakistan to cease all military actions were violated by the neighbouring country.
Normal activities resumed on Sunday and markets reopened. Among other details, the North Western Railway (NWR) has also restored rail services that were cancelled or partially cancelled on Saturday due to tensions between the two countries.
A blackout was also imposed in Jaisalmer on Saturday night as reports of drone activity and explosions came in from Jaisalmer, Barmer and other areas. According to Jaisalmer resident Revant Singh, the frequency of drone activity was less compared to the previous two nights. "Drone activity was observed in the sky, which was a clear violation of the military consensus reached on Saturday,' Singh told PTI.
Not only on Saturday, Jaisalmer and Barmer were also hit by drone attacks by Pakistan on Thursday night and Friday night. The Indian defence forces managed to destroy the drones mid-air and there was no report of any loss of life or property.
On Saturday, debris of objects like drones and missiles were found from various places. Later, the duration of the blackout was reduced in Jaisalmer and Jodhpur as well. In the evening, markets opened in Jaisalmer and Barmer and the call for a blackout in Barmer was withdrawn.
