Paid previews on Wednesday, March 18, collected ₹51.6 crore gross across 12,292 shows, with over 12 lakh footfalls before the film's official release date. In net terms, this translated to ₹43 crore, a figure that alone would have been a respectable opening day for most Bollywood films.

Paid Preview Records: The Foundation of a Monster Opening

The paid preview phenomenon has been growing in Indian cinema, but Dhurandhar 2 took it to an entirely different level. The biggest Bollywood premiere grosser before Dhurandhar 2 was Stree 2, which had collected just over ₹10 crore from its preview shows. In comparison, Dhurandhar 2 delivered nearly five times that figure, rewriting what the industry considers possible from advance screenings.

Dhurandhar 2 is reportedly only the 5th Indian film ever to hit ₹200 crore in advance sales, after Pushpa 2, Leo, RRR, and Baahubali 2, and the first Bollywood title to do so. That context alone tells you how seismic this release has been.

On the digital booking front, the film made history even before a single theatre light came on. Dhurandhar 2 surpassed Jawan's record with 14.81 lakh tickets sold, becoming the all-time number one on BookMyShow, while also clocking over 1.09 lakh ticket sales in a single hour, beating Pushpa 2's previous record of 1.07 lakh per hour.

Opening Day Domestic Numbers: Bigger Than Jawan, Pathaan, and Stree 2 Combined

By the time evening shows wrapped up on March 19, the film had firmly planted its flag at the summit of Bollywood's all-time opening day records. By 7:30 PM, Dhurandhar 2 had crossed ₹75 crore in pure Day 1 collections excluding previews, recording Ranveer Singh's highest opener ever and surpassing Jawan's opening day tally. Including the paid preview haul of ₹43 crore, the Day 1 net total crossed ₹146 crore, territory no Hindi film had ever entered.

The film released across multiple languages, though Hindi remained the dominant contributor. The Telugu dub collected ₹2+ crore by the evening, while Tamil was close behind. The Malayalam and Kannada versions started slow, largely because their paid previews were cancelled on Wednesday, but picked up pace through the day.

The global numbers have been equally staggering. The advances for the extended opening weekend reached around $5.40 million in North America by end of Wednesday, putting the film on track to open at $10 million-plus over its four-day extended weekend. This would not only be a record for Bollywood but potentially for Indian cinema in the region.

In terms of previews in the United States, Dhurandhar 2 set the highest preview numbers for a Bollywood film, beating Animal's $980K record. The biggest previews for any Indian film had previously belonged to Kalki 2898 AD at $3.50 million.

The film also confirmed a release in AMC Dolby Cinema (Dolby Vision) across the USA, making Dhurandhar 2 only the third Indian feature film to receive a Dolby release in the United States, following RRR and Pushpa 2.

Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge continues the story of an undercover Indian intelligence agent infiltrating Pakistan's criminal syndicates while avenging the 26/11 attacks. The cast features Ranveer Singh, R. Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, Sanjay Dutt, Sara Arjun, Rakesh Bedi, Akshaye Khanna, Danish Pandor, and Yami Gautam, all under the direction of Aditya Dhar.

The sequel was shot back-to-back with the first part, with principal photography beginning in July 2024 in Bangkok and wrapping in October 2025, spanning locations across Punjab, Chandigarh, Maharashtra, Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh, and Thailand.

Trade analysts project Dhurandhar 2 to cross ₹1,000 crore net in India alone, and potentially surpass the first film's ₹1,350 crore worldwide total. Given that the first Dhurandhar collected ₹1,350.83 crore at the worldwide box office and was still playing in theatres three months after its December 2025 release, the sequel is widely expected to do even better. A ₹1,500 to 1,800 crore worldwide gross is widely speculated in trade circles.
