CS2 Esports World Cup Grand Final: Interestingly, the matches are the same as those mentioned earlier, just the labels have changed. Vitality will face the Falcons in the third-place decider, and Aurora will face The Mongols in the Grand Finals.
Vitality vs Falcons
A long-awaited matchup that's been boiling under the surface. With FaZe nowhere near Vitality's potential at the moment, and Spirit once again going through a period of change, the Falcons might be the only team that can give Vitality a tough fight. The Falcons are still in the early stages of their project, yet with every match they're gaining more experience. In contrast, Vitality appear to be stuck in a slump, and seem to be a mere shadow of their former self. This makes this matchup curious for me, but very important in determining the Falcons' form for the rest of the season.
MongolZ are the only team to consistently beat Vitality this year, and after months of falling behind the others, the Falcons could finally emerge as a strong contender. The history between these two speaks volumes: three encounters, all of which have been thrilling. At IEM Melbourne 2025, a BO5 Grand Final stretched to its limits, with Vitality winning 22-20; at BLAST Rivals 2025 Season 1, another BO5 that demanded all five maps; and at IEM Dallas 2025, a BO3 that was once again thrilling. But these encounters were fought without Kyusuke, and now with him joining the team, the story might be different.
Mongolz vs Aurora-
This is a matchup that holds a special significance for Asian fans, always seen as Mongols vs Turks, and history is always made on the server. Both teams bring heritage, but the occasion is even more unique, the first Grand Finals in over six years in Tier 1 Counter-Strike featuring mono-national lineups. Both Mongolz and Aurora are desperate for a Tier 1 trophy, and EWC 2025 would be a great reward for either team.
Looking at recent encounters, MongolZ have always had the upper hand, winning IEM Rio 2024, IEM Katowice 2025, IEM Dallas 2025 and BLAST Bounty 2025 Season 2 Finals. Aurora's only victory came at PGL Astana 2025, where they won in overtime on the second map. However, this BO5 Grand Final is less about records and more about endurance, a tough test to test the depth of both teams' map pools.
The experienced MongolZ have maintained their lead with their recent performances in the BO5. Yet Aurora have no shortage of experience, showing the composure of seasoned players who know how to deal with every difficulty.
MongolZ have been dominating this year, and this is a golden opportunity for them to win the trophy. It seems it is now too late for him to receive a silver medal, lest he be remembered only as the custodian of trophies meant for others.
