The journey to the Grand Finals of the Battlegrounds Mobile India Series (BGIS) 2026 has officially entered a crucial phase. After intense Quarter-Finals and the high-pressure Wildcard stage, Krafton India Esports has revealed the complete mechanism behind the Semi-Finals group draw.

If you’re wondering how the Semi-Finals groups are formed and what makes this year’s system different, here’s everything you need to know.

BGIS 2026 Semi Finals: Total Teams & Qualification Routes

The BGIS 2026 Semi-Finals will feature 24 of the best teams in the country. These teams qualify through two separate paths:

Quarter-Finals Qualifiers (Teams 1-16):

  • The top 16 teams from the Quarter-Finals leaderboard secure a direct place in the Semi-Finals.

Wildcard Qualifiers (Teams 17-24):

  • The remaining eight slots are filled by the top-performing teams from the Wildcard stage.

This structure ensures that both consistent performers and late bloomers get a fair chance at the title.

Understanding the New Group Draw System: Single Pot Method

To maintain fairness and transparency, BGIS 2026 introduces a Single Pot Group Draw system for the Semi-Finals.

Instead of drawing team names directly, the system uses 24 numbered slots, each representing a finishing position from the Quarter-Finals or Wildcard stage. Team names are filled in later once leaderboards are finalized.

Step 1: Quarter-Finals Slot Allocation (QF1–QF16)

  • The first 16 slots are labeled QF1 to QF16, based strictly on Quarter-Finals rankings.
  • These slots are drawn randomly from the pot.
  • Each drawn slot is assigned to Group A, Group B, or Group C in a rotating sequence.
  • Once Quarter-Finals end, teams are placed into these slots according to their final standings.

This method removes bias while rewarding performance.

Step 2: Wildcard Slot Allocation (WC1–WC8)

  • The remaining eight slots are labeled WC1 to WC8.
  • These represent the top eight teams from the Wildcard stage.
  • Just like the Quarter-Final slots, Wildcard slots are drawn randomly.
  • Each slot is assigned to one of the three Semi-Final groups.

This ensures Wildcard teams are evenly spread and no group becomes overloaded.

Final Outcome: Semi-Final Groups Locked

Once all 24 slots (16 QF + 8 WC) are drawn and assigned, the Semi-Final groups are officially locked. The result is:

  • Three balanced groups - Group A, Group B, and Group C
  • Fair distribution of top-ranked and Wildcard teams
  • High-intensity matchups leading into the Grand Finals race

With the groups finalized, teams now shift focus entirely to strategy, consistency, and survival.

Why This System Matters

The Single Pot method adds unpredictability while preserving competitive integrity. It prevents group stacking, keeps the tournament exciting, and ensures every team earns its progress purely through performance.

As BGIS 2026 heads into the Semi-Finals, the stage is perfectly set for thrilling battles and breakout performances.
