Azam Khan released from Sitapur jail after 23 months: Senior Samajwadi Party leader and former cabinet minister Azam Khan walked out of Sitapur jail on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, after 23 months in prison. His release sparked celebrations among his supporters. Upon his release, he was greeted with garlands. His two sons, Abdullah Azam and Adeeb Azam, were present. Azam will travel directly to his home in Rampur. Party workers have made elaborate preparations for his welcome there as well.

SP leader Azam Khan has walked out of jail after 23 months. His elder son, Adeeb Azam, had already arrived in Sitapur to receive him. Supporters began gathering outside the jail early in the morning to welcome him. However, his release was delayed due to a legal hurdle.

Azam Khan was scheduled to be released at 7 a.m., but a legal hurdle delayed the release. The SP leader had two remaining bonds, which could only be filled after the court reopened. The court opens at ten o'clock. After the court opened, his lawyers filled both bonds, paving the way for his release, and he is now out of jail.

Azam Khan's son, Adeeb, said, "Azam Khan is coming out, it's a very happy day. It's a very happy day for the entire state. Azam Khan is today's hero; he will say whatever he has to say." Following Azam Khan's release from jail, his supporters are elated.

It's worth noting that SP leader Azam Khan is lodged in Sitapur jail on several criminal charges, including land grabbing. He has been granted bail by the High Court in some of these cases, but there are others where the legal process is still pending.

SP leader Akhilesh Yadav expressed happiness over the release of Azam Khan. He also promised that as soon as the SP government comes to power in Uttar Pradesh, all cases against Azam Khan will be withdrawn.
