Ashneer Grover is once again making headlines, and this time, it's not about fintech or investments; it's about reality TV drama! The sharp-tongued entrepreneur recently dropped a subtle but unmistakable jab at Bollywood superstar Salman Khan and his hit reality show Bigg Boss 19. While he didn’t name Salman directly, Grover’s words left little to the imagination, igniting chatter across social media and entertainment circles.
As Bigg Boss 19 continues to entertain audiences with its mix of celebrity drama and personal conflicts, Grover has launched his own reality show titled Rise and Fall. During a candid conversation with News18 Showsha, Grover expressed his views on how reality shows are being shaped in India.
Reality shows should focus on contestants and their journeys, Grover remarked. But in India, unfortunately, there's this huge show with a superstar host. The attention shifts from the contestants to the host. At the end of the day, who’s putting in the effort? You're only coming on weekends, while contestants are working 24/7!
The comment, dripping with sarcasm, was an obvious dig at Salman Khan’s weekend appearances on Bigg Boss 19. Grover further added, The power should go back to contestants and their stories, not someone hijacking the show just because they’re a big name.
This isn’t the first time Grover and Salman have been at odds. Their feud reportedly dates back to a sponsored ad shoot where Grover briefly met the superstar. He later recounted that Salman’s team declined a photo opportunity, allegedly out of fear that the superstar might be offended.
Grover had once said, I sat with him for hours, and then his manager said, ‘No photos, sir won’t like it.’ I thought, ‘So what heropanti is this?’ The blunt response went viral, further fueling their rivalry.
The drama escalated during Bigg Boss 18 when Grover appeared as a guest. Salman didn’t hold back, grilling him about his past remarks and warning him to choose his words wisely.
Meeting was not held with you but with your team… I saw what you said… You presented it wrong, Salman reportedly told Grover. The moment was tense, but Grover apologised, saying he never intended to disrespect the superstar.
Ashneer Grover’s outspoken nature has always divided audiences; some admire his candidness, while others see it as unnecessary drama. However, one thing is clear: his comments have reignited discussions about the structure and focus of reality shows in India.
Are audiences ready for reality shows that highlight contestants rather than celebrity hosts? Will Rise and Fall offer a fresh take on the genre, or will it ride the wave of controversy?
Only time will tell, but one thing’s for sure: Grover’s remarks have added a new layer of intrigue to the entertainment space, making him a personality to watch in the coming months.
