Zoho Corporation's Arattai app, which has been in the news for the past few days, is about to receive a feature that could put WhatsApp in the spotlight. Currently, only voice and video calls are end-to-end encrypted on this Indian app.
Now, chatting is also being made end-to-end encrypted. With this feature, messages sent on the platform will remain private to users and no third party, including the company, will be able to read them. This feature has been available on WhatsApp for quite some time.
Arattai company is preparing
Arattai's popularity has grown rapidly in recent days, and the company is now working to further strengthen its privacy features. Speaking to Moneycontrol, the app's CEO, Mani Vembu, said, "We are working on it. In personal messaging, we are introducing a secret chat option that allows users to enable encryption for private conversations.
This is not the default yet. The entire team is now working on making it available to all users." Before Vembu's statement, many users on social media had questioned the security of Arattai.
The Arattai app was launched in 2021.
Zoho launched the Arattai app in 2021 as a side project, but it failed to gain popularity. Recently, Union Ministers Dharmendra Pradhan, Nirmala Sitharaman, and Piyush Goyal appealed to the public to support the app. Following this, its downloads rapidly increased, and it reached the top of the list of most downloaded apps on the App Store.
Like WhatsApp, it offers features such as personal chat, group chat, voice notes, image and video sharing. The company that developed it claims that privacy is fully respected and it will never monetize personal data.
