In a heart-wrenching incident during the premiere of Pushpa 2: The Rule at Sandhya Theatre, Hyderabad, a woman tragically lost her life. At the same time, her 13-year-old son remains in critical condition. Actor Allu Arjun, deeply moved by the incident, has announced financial assistance of ₹25 lakh for the bereaved family and pledged to cover the medical expenses of the boy.
Allu Arjun's Heartfelt Response
Taking to social media platform X, the actor expressed his sorrow:
'Deeply heartbroken by the tragic incident at Sandhya Theatre. My heartfelt condolences go out to the grieving family during this unimaginably difficult time. I am committed to extending every possible assistance to help them navigate this challenging journey.'
In addition, Allu Arjun assured that he would personally meet the family to provide support. Addressing the public in a video, he emphasized the importance of safety at public events, urging everyone to exercise caution while attending crowded gatherings.
The Tragic Incident
The incident unfolded on December 4, when a large crowd gathered for the premiere. The overwhelming influx of people caused 35-year-old Revathi and her son, Sri Tej, to experience severe suffocation. Despite police intervention and immediate medical attention, Revathi was declared dead on arrival at Durgabai Deshmukh Hospital. Sri Tej, in critical condition, was shifted to another facility for advanced care.
Following the tragedy, Hyderabad Police have registered a case against Allu Arjun, his security team, and the management of Sandhya Theatre. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central Zone) Akshansh Yadav confirmed the charges under sections of culpable homicide not amounting to murder and voluntarily causing hurt.
The lack of communication between the actor’s team and the theatre management regarding his visit has been cited as a key factor in the inadequate crowd control measures.
The incident has sparked widespread grief and calls for stricter safety protocols at film events. Fans and industry professionals have lauded Allu Arjun’s prompt response and financial support, reflecting his commitment to his audience and their well-being.
