Yannick won by defeating Zverev

Yannick Sinner has won the Wimbledon 2026 title. In the final he defeated Zverev 6-7, 7-6, 6-3, 6-4.

Why was half of the amount deducted?

After winning the Wimbledon 2026 title, Sinner won 4.84 million US dollars i.e. about 46.14 million rupees. But he got only 24.78 Crore Rupees.

45% tax deducted

Now the question is why did the sinner not get the full prize money? The answer is the UK's tax law, under which their prize money was cut by 45 percent.

How was tax levied?

Under the UK's tax law, 20 percent of the prize money was automatically deducted. At the same time, the remaining 25% was deducted due to earnings exceeding $1.6 million dollars.

UK tax laws

In the UK, those who earn more than $1.6 million dollars fall under the highest tax bracket. This is the reason why Yannick Sinner's prize money was deducted by another 25 percent.

Women's champion also gets half the prize money

Like Yannick Sinner, Linda Noskova, who won the women's Wimbledon 2026 title, would not have received the full prize money.
