Mirabai Chanu claimed India's first gold at the 2026 CWG in Glasgow, winning the women's 48kg weightlifting event.
She lifted a combined total of 190kg, setting a spectacular new Commonwealth Games record overall.
The 31-year-old established Games records with an 85kg snatch, followed by a 105kg clean and jerk lift.
This dominant victory marks Chanu's third consecutive CWG gold, successfully defending her titles from 2018 and 2022.
Chanu's historic gold, along with Rishikanta Singh's 60kg silver, has significantly boosted India's medal campaign in Glasgow.
