Every year, National Hot Dog Day 2026 is observed on July 15 across the US to celebrate the unique creation that has now become popular all around the world.
The day was established in 1991 by the National Hot Dog and Sausage Council, the American trade association, to promote the hot dog and sausage industry.
A traditional hot dog is made up of a sausage and bread roll that contains either a steamed or grilled sausage that is usually enjoyed with sauces.
The hot dog is said to be invented by German baker by Charles Feltman in 1867 in Coney Island in New York, and has since become popular around the world.
Some of the most popular types of American hot dogs are from New York, Chicago and Coney Island, among other lesser-known variations.
