World Gin Day 2026 is observed on the second Saturday of June, and this year it falls on June 13, to celebrate the spirit that has a close connection to India.
The day was founded by Neil Houston in 2009 to celebrate the spirit and to bring his friends together in Birmingham, and has turned into a world event.
Gin has a very close connection to India, as the cocktail Gin & Tonic, was invented here by British officers stationed here to deal with malaria with quinine.
While soldiers made it with water, sugar, lime and water, today the cocktail is made with gin, tonic water and a wedge of lime, and enjoyed by many across India.
