Ervine, 37, missed Zimbabwe's recent ODI series against India at home as well as the Australia tour due to a hamstring injury sustained on August 2 during the T20I series against Afghanistan. Ervine's return to the squad is a significant boost for Zimbabwe, which has struggled to find strong leadership qualities against larger opponents in recent games.
In recent series, players such as Ryan Burl, Sikander Raza, and Sean Williams have excelled with both bat and ball. This will provide Zimbabwe with much-needed batting and bowling balance. With the availability of 5-6 all-rounders, the team appears to be strong. They must now perform on the grand stage.
Senior members such as Tendai Chatara, Wellington Masakadza, and Milton Shumba are also present, and Blessing Muzarabani returns to lead the pace attack. Chatara returns from a collarbone fracture, while Muzarabani, who travelled with the team to Australia but did not play, is fully recovered.
Masakadza and Shumba both return from shoulder tendon and quadriceps injuries. Reserves include Tadiwanashe Marumani, Innocent Kaia, Kevin Kasuza, Victor Nyauchi, and Tanaka Chivanga.
