On Tuesday, Namibia announced its 15-man squad for the T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia. Namibia is making its second consecutive appearance at the global event, following an impressive performance last year in Muscat and the United Arab Emirates. Several key players from the previous tournament have been retained in Gerard Erasmus' squad.
Along with Erasmus, JJ Smit, Stephen Baard, Jan Frylinck, Nicol Loftie Eaton, Ruben Trumpelmann, and David Wiese will form the core. New faces in the squad include wicketkeeper-batter Lohan Louwrens, batter Divan la Cock, and pacer Tangeni Lungameni.
The Southern African country is the sixth to name its squad for the mega-event. Australia, England, India, South Africa, and the Netherlands had previously announced their teams for the tournament.

What is Schedule of Namibia for T20 World Cup 2022? Namibia is in Group A of the Round 1 stage, alongside Sri Lanka, the Netherlands, and the United Arab Emirates. The Namibia cricket team, also known as the Eagles, will begin their World Cup campaign on October 16 against Sri Lanka, followed by the Netherlands on October 18. The Eagles will then face UAE in their final round 1 game. Namibia performed admirably in the 2021 World Cup in the UAE, reaching the Super 12 despite being drawn in a difficult group in round one. They were assigned to Sri Lanka, Ireland, and the Netherlands. The Erasmus-led team had defeated the Netherlands and Ireland to advance to the Super 12 tournament, where they faced world-class cricket teams.
