Henry Nicholls faces ball-tampering charges

The New Zealand team has returned to the winning track in the World Cup after four consecutive defeats. It has almost confirmed its place in the semi-finals by winning against Sri Lanka on Thursday (November 9). It may face India in the first semi-final. Meanwhile, a bad news has emerged for the Kiwi team. Its experienced batsman Henry Nicholls has been accused of ball tampering. However, he is not playing in the World Cup.

After the World Cup, New Zealand has to tour Bangladesh. That team includes Henry Nicholls. He has been accused of ball tampering during the domestic tournament Plunket Shield in New Zealand. If the allegations prove to be true then their problems may increase.

What is the whole matter?

A video of the match played between Canterbury and Auckland in the Plunket Shield tournament (first-class tournament) went viral. Nicholls is accused of tampering with the ball with the help of a helmet. It is seen in the video that he is rubbing the ball with the helmet. If the case against him is found true, he may be banned for six Tests or 12 ODIs.

What did the New Zealand Cricket Board say?

New Zealand Cricket also had to issue a statement regarding the case of Henry Nicholls. The board said that a complaint has been filed against Henry Nicholls for alleged violation of Article 1.15 of Rule 3.1 of the Code of Conduct. He made this mistake on the third day of the Plunket Shield match between Canterbury and Auckland at Hagley Oval.
