India Women vs South Africa Women: In the only Test match between India and South Africa women's team which started on 28 June, both the teams are face to face at MA Chidambaram Stadium. After Harmanpreet Kaur decided to bat first, Smriti Mandhana and Shefali Verma took advantage of the excellent batting conditions and made a world record for the first wicket. Both added 292 runs for the first wicket.
Nothing seems to be going well for the South Africa women's team on India tour. After losing the three-match ODI series 3-0, their start in the only Test match being played at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai was also not as expected.
On the very first day of the match, the Indian opening pair not only gave a great start to the team by making a partnership of 292 runs, but also broke Pakistan's world record of women's Test cricket.

Shefali Verma and Smriti Mandhana both broke the 20-year-old world record of Pakistan women's team. Actually, Pakistan women's team opening pair Kiran Baluch and Sajida Shah had added 241 runs for the first wicket in Karachi against West Indies women's team in 2004, which was a world record in women's Test cricket. Now this record has been registered in the name of Shefali Verma and Smriti Mandhana. Both added 292 runs for the first wicket in women's Test cricket.

Apart from this, both of them also broke the Indian all-time record for the highest partnership for any wicket. The pair of Poonam Raut and Thirush Kamini had shared a 275-run partnership for the second wicket in the Test played in Mysore in 2014.
The Smriti-Shefali pair missed the all-time record for the highest partnership for any wicket in the history of women's Test cricket by just 18 runs. Australia's Lindsay Reeler and Denise Annetts added 309 runs for the fourth wicket against England at Wetherby 37 years ago.
