The BJP leadership is considering the possibility of fielding cricket star Mohammed Shami from West Bengal. Shami gained national fame as a fast bowler while playing for Bengal in the Ranji Trophy and he still plays domestic cricket for Bengal.
Sources say that the BJP leadership has already approached Mohammed Shami with this proposal. However, the final decision has to be taken by Shami who is currently on a break from cricket after undergoing surgery.
According to top sources of BJP, it has been learned that Mohammed Shami was proposed to contest from West Bengal in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections and the discussion was positive. There was also discussion among sources close to BJP that by fielding Shami, BJP can win minority seats in Bengal.
