World Pulses Day: Best time of the day to have them

Since 2016, February 10 has been observed as World Pulses Day to raise awareness on the high-protein legume foods.

While we frequently include them in our diet, it's important to know that the meal timings also matter.

The best time to have pulses is lunchtime, according to nutrition experts.

This is because our body can process these complex carbs best at these hours.

Avoid eating pulses at night, as our body's digestion slows down at this time.

If you can't avoid pulses at night, choose lighter pulses, such as green gram or red and brown lentils, at least three hours before bedtime.

If our stomachs are comfortable with them, moong and masoor are good breakfast options, too.
