This time the Chaturdashi date of Chhoti Diwali will start from 1.51 pm on October 19 and will continue till 3.46 pm on October 20.

Lord Krishna, Goddess Lakshmi, and Lord Hanuman are worshipped on this day. According to religious beliefs, this day is primarily dedicated to Lord Krishna.

On this day on the Krishna Paksha date of Kartik month, Lord Shri Krishna killed the demon named Narakasura.

According to mythology, the demon Narakasura had become very dangerous and had spread terror everywhere.

He terrorized the gods, snatched the gem from them, and took control of the three worlds. He also captured 16,000 women, including both royal and common women.

The gods prayed to Lord Krishna for protection from Narakasura. With the help of his wife Satyabhama, he killed Narakasura on this day, freeing everyone from his terror.

Since then, Choti Diwali has been celebrated to symbolize the victory of good over evil. This date is also known as Naraka Chaturdashi.
