Sooryavanshi enters Qualifier 2 with 680 runs. He needs just another 81 runs to break Virat Kohli’s record for the most runs in a single IPL edition.
Sooryavanshi came agonizingly close to the ultimate milestone in the Eliminator, scoring 97 off 29 balls. He has the aggressive intent to break Chris Gayle’s legendary record of a 30-ball century.
Sooryavanshi already holds the record for the fastest IPL hundred by an Indian off just 35 balls. If he finds his rhythm, he could easily eclipse his own previous mark.
Following Rajasthan Royals’ staggering 243/8 in the Eliminator, this high-scoring venue at Mullanpur could see the inaugural champions push for the highest playoff total in IPL history, which currently stands at 257/5 by RCB in 2016.
