Brevis had previously played for the Mumbai Indians but was not retained by the before the auction. To be fair, he could not perform with MI as per his standards.
Chennai Super Kings later signed him as a replacement mid-season for Rs 2.2 crore. He then showed how talented he was with tremendous performances.
Dewald Brevis scored crucial fifties for the Chennai Super Kings at a strike-rate of over 160 during that season.
After the IPL season, Brevis scored the highest T20I score for South Africa (125 off 56) against Australia.
In the SA20, he became the most expensive player bought for R16.5 million (approximately Rs 8.3 crore).
Now in the IPL 2026 season, Brevis has been retained by the Chennai Super Kings and is likely to make a mark in the upcoming season.
