Shubman Gill played a 269-run knock in the second Test against England, registering the highest score by an Indian captain in Test cricket.
Shubman Gill also became the first Asian captain to score a double century in a Test match in SENA conditions.
Gill now holds the record for the highest score by an Indian captain in England, surpassing Azharuddin's 179 at Old Trafford in 1990.
Gill also broke Sunil Gavaskar's long-standing record of 221, becoming India's highest scorer in Tests in England.
Gill has become only the third Indian batter after Sunil Gavaskar and Rahul Dravid to score a double-century in Tests on English soil.
Gill is now the second-youngest Indian captain to score a double-century in Tests.
