A Prodigy Emerges

Born in Barbados, Garry Sobers made his first-class debut at just 16. By 1954, his prodigious talent earned him a West Indies Test debut.

The Historic 365

In 1958 against Pakistan, a 21-year-old Sobers scored an astonishing 365 not out, establishing a world record for the highest individual Test score.

Six Sixes in an Over

Playing for Nottinghamshire in 1968, Sobers became the first cricketer to smash six sixes in a single six-ball over in first-class cricket.

Leading the West Indies

Appointed captain in 1965, Sobers led the West Indies through 39 Tests. His aggressive leadership and incredible all-round skills inspired a generation of cricketers.

Knighthood and Legacy

Knighted by Queen Elizabeth II in 1975 for his services to cricket, Sir Garry remains a National Hero of Barbados and a cricketing immortal.
