Every year, Pencil Day 2026 is observed on March 30 to honour the writing tool that has helped so many people use it as a part of their learning years.
Pencil Day is observed on March 30 to mark the day American inventor Hymen L. Lipmen received the patent for the pencil with the eraser attached to it in 1858.
While Lipman received the patent for the pencil-eraser, Nicholas-Jacques Conte is known to have invented the modern pencil in 1795, a scientist.
Cumberland Pencil Company used them to put maps in the hollow part to help military personnel escape when they were captured during World War II.
There are over 20 types of pencils made today including 9H to 9xxB where, H denotes hard, HB means Hard Black, and B is Black depending on the type of use.
