Every year, Mother`s Day is observed on the second Sunday of May, mostly May 10, to honour mothers and maternal bonds in people`s lives.
While the day has been celebrated by many countries around the world, Anna Jarvis of the US is known as the founder of the day.
Anna Jarvis was a social activist, and observed May 10 as Mother`s Day because it was the day she decided to honour her mother in 1908.
Marking the day at Andrews Methodist Episcopal Church, it is today not only the International Mother`s Day Shrine, but also a National Historical Landmark.
Some of the most popular mothers in India history include Rani Laxmibai, and Jijabai Bhonsle, among others who have contributed in so many way.
