Sinner registered his 32nd consecutive win in Masters 1000 events, surpassing Novak Djokovic’s previous record for the longest winning streak in the tournament.
The Italian star looked in complete control against Rublev, extending his unbeaten run that dates back to October last year.
Sinner’s semifinal opponent will be former Rome champion Daniil Medvedev, who advanced after defeating Martin Landaluce in the quarterfinals.
The 23-year-old has not lost a Masters 1000 match since retiring with cramps during his clash against Tallon Griekspoor in Shanghai last season.
Following the Italian Open, Sinner will turn his focus to the French Open as he looks to complete a career Grand Slam.
