Shubman Gill ruled out of action as India’s Test and ODI captain suffers neck injury

He suffered the injury while playing the first Test match against South Africa in Kolkata.

Gill might not be available for the ODI series against South Africa starting on November 30.

Vice-captain Shreyas Iyer is also injured, which means India may have to find a new captain.

Here are three players who could captain India if Gill and Iyer miss the South Africa ODIs:

KL Rahul:

The wicketkeeper-batter has already captained India before. He stays very calm on the field.

Rohit Sharma:

The former captain, who led India to the 2023 ODI World Cup final, could be given the role again for a short time.

Jasprit Bumrah:

If the right-arm fast bowler is fit for the ODIs, he could also be picked as the captain for the series.
