Cincinnati Open: Coco Gauff beats Jessica Pegula in final

Gauff defeated Pegula 6-2, 6-4, joining Serena Williams and Victoria Azarenka in the elite list of stars to have won the title more than once in the Open era.

Gauff raced to a 5-0 lead in the first set within just half an hour and ended the first set at 6-2. In the second set, she broke Pegula to love to win the match.

I think it was a long journey, but I am happy, Gauff told reporters after the match.

Gauff had lost to runner-up Jasmine Paolini in the quarterfinals of the 2025 US Open, and the 22-year-old was left questioning if she belonged at the top level.

Pegula hailed her opponent`s performance, saying that she was playing at an extremely High level.
