Chhath Puja is devoted to Surya Dev (the Sun God) and Chhathi Maiya, celebrating purity, gratitude, and life’s divine energy.
Chhath Puja is a four-day festival celebrated in October–November, right after Diwali. In 2025, it will be observed from October 25 to 28.
Chhath Puja is believed to have originated in the Mahabharata era, when Draupadi and Karna are said to have performed its rituals.
Devotees observe rigorous fasting, take holy dips in rivers, and offer Arghya (water) to both the setting and rising sun.
Environmentalists believe that Chhath Puja is one of the most eco-friendly religious festivals in India.
