Every year, Punjabis observe Baisakhi festival during this time of the year to mark the Punjabi New Year.
This year, the festival, which is being celebrated on April 14, also symbolises prosperity and gratitude for a good Rabi harvest.
It is also marked by the Sikh community for the historic moment when Guru Gobind Singh established the Khalsa Panth and initiated the tradition of Amrit Sanchar.
The day also marks the ripening of the winter wheat crop and is ready for harvest, representing the reward of nearly six months of hard work, dedication.
While the celebrations include traditional dances like bhangra and gidda, apart from kirtans and visiting the gurudwara, and indulging in delicious food.
