ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2023: Teams and Groups

The 2023 Women’s T20 World Cup will start with two groups of five teams each. South Africa secured an automatic slot in the competition as the host nation, while Australia, England, India, New Zealand, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and the West Indies earned their spots based on their world rankings. The remaining two spots were filled by Bangladesh and Ireland, who advanced through the qualification tournament held in 2022.

Three Venues Set Be Used at the Tournament

The 2023 Women's T20 World Cup will take place at three venues: Newlands Cricket Ground in Cape Town, St George's Park Cricket Ground in Gqeberha, and Boland Park in Paarl.

The semi-finals and final matches will be held at Newlands Cricket Ground, which is also one of the venues for the inaugural SA20 franchise league. As of January 27, MI Cape Town, the host team, is a top contender to win the trophy. This venue has seen some high-scoring games during the 2023 SA20, such as Pretoria Capitals' 182 runs from 20 overs against MI Cape Town and Sunrisers Eastern Cape's two-wicket win after chasing 171 runs.

St George's Park Cricket Ground and Boland Park, both smaller in size, have experience hosting international matches, having been two of the venues for the 2003 Cricket World Cup in South Africa.

Women's T20 World Cup 2023: Full Squads of all Teams

As the host nation, South Africa automatically secured a spot in the tournament. The seven teams with the highest rankings in the ICC Women's T20I Rankings as of November 30, 2021, who also competed in the 2020 ICC Women's T20 World Cup in Australia, joined them. The final two spots were filled by Ireland and Bangladesh, who emerged as the finalists of the qualifying tournament.
