Ben Duckett looked good to reach big scores and created some panic in the Indian camp. Jasprit Bumrah would have dismissed the southpaw in his first over as Rohit Sharma opted against reviewing a possible LBW decision.

By the end of play on the second day (January 26), India had scored 421 runs for seven wickets in its first innings. At the time of stump, Ravindra Jadeja was not out on 81 and Akshar Patel was not out on 35 runs. The first batsman to be out on the second day was Yashasvi Jaiswal (80). He was caught out by Joe Root on his own ball. At that time Team India's score was 123/2. After this KL Rahul and Shubman Gill tried to handle the innings.
